Florence BELLIVIER - Are the Protection of Animals and Universal Human Rights Incompatible in Principle ?
Pouvoirs n°131 - Les animaux - novembre 2009 - p.127-134
Despite appearances, the defence of animal rights and the struggle for
Human rights are not necessarily antinomic. Ethical, philosophical
and legal progress in the domain of man’s duties toward animals do not
inevitably lead to a reversal of human/animal values, feared by some and
hoped for by others. Yet, it is still the case that the cause of animals does
not fit very well with the universal dimension of human rights.
