Charles MILLON - Before/after: what has changed
Pouvoirs n°70 - L’argent des élections - septembre 1994 - p.103-112
The financial scandals that have shaken the political world for some years are
not due only to personal greed. They are linked to a media logic requiring
increasing amount of money that has been imposed on politics. In the undecided
battle between two hardly compatible approaches politics has won a round
with the reform of campaign funding. The ceiling imposed on expenses, the
control of the use of onerous as well as questionable means have contributed
to reorient politics towards its true mission. This is today absolutely imperative
in order to go escape from the dead-end alternative between technocracy
and populism.
