Michel KTITAREFF - California as the Largest Technological Laboratory of the 20th Century
Pouvoirs n°133 - La Californie - avril 2010 - p.115-124
California owes a great part of its economic vigor to the model it
invented in order to promote technological innovation. This model,
drawn up during the 1930s economic crisis, has been copied everywhere,
even by other regions of the United States, notably on the East
Coast, without ever achieving a similar success. Yet, while the Golden
State remains the main scientific laboratory in the world, the large
countries of Asia are getting ready to challenge its leadership in the
new century which is only beginning in the realm of technological
innovation.
