Pierre JOUANNET - Ethical principles, Medical Power and the Physician’s Responsibility
Pouvoirs n°89 - Le pouvoir médical - avril 1999 - p.5-14
Over the last thirty years medicine has changed probably more than
during the previous centuries. The evolution of values and knowledge
is inevitable, however the pace of change being different, it may have a
destabilizing effect. It therefore becomes necessary to find a new
balance between the powers and the responsibility of the people involved,
while respecting the basic ethical principles of the profession as
well as the rights of individuals. New forms of organization of medical
practice should be invented in order to develop such an ethics of action.
