The management of a school is guided by the specific missions of the educational system and is exercised today in a context of mass access to education, of democratisation, decentralisation and the growing autonomy of schools. While authority appears to be in crisis everywhere, the authority of the school principal faces particular problems. While he or she can use tools such as the school project and the powers granted by law, he or she must also show some imagination for, sometimes the entire culture of a school has to be transformed in order to manage it more efficiently. français
