Lahouari ADDI - Political Pluralism and Islam in the Arabic World
Pouvoirs n°104 - Islam et démocratie - janvier 2003 - p.85-95
The article deals with the question of pluralism in Arabic countries that
have many similarities despite their differences. It proposes a dynamic
model articulating Islam as a discursive mode to the weakness of the
public nature of power and to the propensity of the people to submission
and rebellion. This model is drawn from the Algerian experience
whose three constitutive logics can be found, to various degrees, in the
other Arabic societies, from Iraq to Morocco.
