René PÉTILLON - The Virtues and Vices of Satire
Pouvoirs n°119 - La démocratie sous contrôle médiatique - novembre 2006 - p.89-99
By their very nature, satirists are political spoilsports. At the same time
they are drawn to satire by their very interest in politics. So they do
press the sore spots, yet they do it within self-imposed limits and they
can have an impact only if they manage to provoke laughter by expressing
what everyone feels rather than by pretending to influence
anyone.
